Recognised Prior Learning RPL
What will recognised prior learning RPL enable me to do?
We offer RPL for individuals who have experience of swimming teaching with Swim England learn to swim pathway (LTSP)
What is RPL?
A method of assessment that considers whether a learner can demonstrate that they can meet the assessment requirements through knowledge, understanding or skills they already posses and do not need to develop through a course of learning
It is a programme which assesses you against the current ASA qualifications taking into account previous qualifications and teaching/coaching experience. It is ideal for individuals who have experience of teaching or coaching
Do you have swimming teaching experience?
Do you want to gain the latest ASA level 1 Swimming Assistant and/or ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher?
If you answered yes to both of these questions then RPL is for you!
If you have no or limited teaching/coaching experience then you are recommended to complete a full course face to face
To do RPL these will be the qualification you would gain
- ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant £300
- ASA Level 2 Swimming Teacher £550
- The cost of doing both as RPL are £650
What skills do I need to apply?
This is an assessment process only and the assessment will be through
- Practical assessment 2 x 30 minute lessons (Work place assessment, we would need to know where you are before we can commit to carrying out your RPL)
- Theory questions
- Portfolio submission
- Professional discussions
How long will it take?
It depends on a number of factors such as your level of knowledge and experience, quality of evidence submitted to the assessor, learner and or assessor availability. But we would expect the process to take around 4 - 8 weeks depending on your availability to complete the work, with certification around 4 - 6 weeks later.
If you have any more question please do not hesitate to contact us.
